Weddings and partnerships

A wedding outdoors

Kent and East Sussex have some fantastic locations for outdoor weddings

My wedding, civil partnership and reaffirmation ceremonies are very flexible and can be as simple or elaborate as you wish.

I write a unique script for you which reflects your approach to life and  the promises you want to make. There is no religious content. The focus is on your commitment to each other.

I help you choose readings and poetry, anecdotes, stories and music that is personal and relevant. Live music can be incredibly moving on such occasions. Between us we can decide what is best for you… whether it’s a song everyone can sing, recorded music or a live group. The overall aim is for a meaningful and memorable day that reflects honestly your own views and wishes.

Some couples like to include traditional or cultural elements that are special to them. For instance, I recently conducted a wedding that included a Chinese tea ceremony. Others just want a non-church occasion with traditional elements where they can be declared married! It’s up to you!

6 steps to your wedding ceremony

  1. We meet to discuss initial ideas
  2. I write the draft script
  3. You amend and approve the script
  4. The ceremony is rehearsed, preferably at your chosen venue
  5. The wedding takes place!
  6. You receive a presentation copy of the words.

Fees* are within the recommended BHA guidelines.

*This includes the introductory and planning meetings, script writing, a rehearsal, the ceremony itself and a presentation copy of your script.
