Values

It’s my mission to help couples create a bespoke ceremony that reflects their values, personalities and outlook on love and on life!

Values are important to Humanists, and I realised early on that my celebrancy work is underpinned by a number of values of my own.

Individuality is brilliant.

Everyone has a story to tell! We all have sparks and whispers of individuality that make us different from everybody else. Becoming a couple only serves to build and intensify a shared uniqueness. Together, you are a blend of backgrounds, experiences, ideas, preferences, traits, perspectives and all the wonderful characteristics of your relationship. I will help you design a ceremony to reflect and celebrate that inimitable combination.

Alikeness is everywhere.

As well as our uniqueness, it’s a hallmark of Humanism to reflect on all the things that we have in common. We share our world, societies and surroundings, and the responsibility for looking after our environment. We all have connections with friends, family and communities. Within the bounds of our practical means, we all have the freedom to act kindly and cooperatively, with tolerance and empathy. I will craft a ceremony that all of your guests can connect with, regardless of individual beliefs, making it truly meaningful and memorable.

Diversity is strength.

All love is a gift both to those people at its centre – and also to the world! Diversity of experiences and expressions of love strengthens our society – whether that diversity is around sexuality, gender, race, ethnicity, culture, age, disability or neurodivergence. It is my privilege to listen to couples, to understand their stories and to discover how their love can best be celebrated. I am delighted to work with couples and suppliers from groups that are under- and mis-represented in the wedding industry, and am committed to promoting inclusivity and challenging bias wherever I find it.

Authenticity is beautiful.

There’s nothing like the joy of embracing who you are and what you love, without submitting to opinions and expectations. Your wedding is not a performance – it’s a celebration of your love and an opportunity to share that with those closest to you. I promise I will help you create a ceremony that aligns with you, your beliefs, inclinations and values. I want to help you enjoy the process as well as the outcome. If there’s something you’ve always wanted, or anything you definitely don’t want, just let me know.

Love is a mindset and a skillset.

Your marriage is the start of a journey together, one that will take you through new situations, experiences, challenges and joys that you couldn’t have imagined or prepared for. Whatever love means for you, it’ll take patience, listening, generosity, kindness, humour and forgiveness – mentalities and skills that we learn over time and practise forever! I will help you express  your wishes, hopes and promises for the way that you want to love one another.
