Overview

A Humanist wedding is a wonderful way to celebrate your wedding, your way: without religion, but with plenty of meaning.

Steampunk Wedding

Me and my wife at our Humanist wedding.

The strongest way that I can express my endorsement for Humanist weddings and my sincere belief that they create a perfect occasion in which to celebrate, is by pointing to my own wedding in the late spring of 2016. I feel that our wedding illustrates one of the key selling points of Humanist weddings: the fact that they can be truly unique, personal, and exactly the way that you want them to be.

Our wedding had a Rock ‘n’ Roll Steampunk Circus theme. Not only were we, and all our guests, all wonderfully decked out in stylised outfits, but we made our entrance on a trapeze, we held our ceremony on a stage at a beautifully impressive venue and included live music and video throughout. My wife’s wedding vows were delivered in the form of a PowerPoint presentation in which she outlined the reasons she loved me with the aid of a pie chart!

It really could not have been any more personal to us; and this trait rings true at all of the other Humanist ceremonies that I have both attended and been a part of. The most recent wedding ceremony that I conducted was held in a woodland amongst the beauty of nature, with birds singing nearby. We were outdoors under a canopy of leaves and dappled sunlight. The ceremony featured both laughter and tears of happiness, as well as music and some poetry of personal significance. It was a privilege to be a part of it.

With the benefit of experience, as well as the support and resources provided to me from Humanists UK, I am able to help guide and support you in putting together a truly personal and unique service just for you and your partner. I look forward to hearing your story, finding out what marriage means to you, what you feel are the important elements of a fantastic ceremony, and working all of these strands together to make a perfect occasion.
