Funerals

“From 1st contact through to the service and subsequent follow up email Douglas has been a true professional when dealing with the funeral of my sister… The service itself was perfect from start to finish, Doug has a voice that you could listen to all day his tone and delivery was just perfect. He put the reading together in such a way that it was like listen to a story but in fact this was my sister he was talking about. It was nice to attend a service where the whole time was spent talking about my sister and not trying to push religion down our throats. Doug is a true professional and an asset to your organisation.”

I get enormous job satisfaction from helping people with funeral and memorial ceremonies and I am happy to lead services at crematoria, burial grounds or anywhere else that has significance for the bereaved, including pubs and social clubs.  I don’t believe in a god so I can’t honestly lead prayers, but I do believe funerals and memorials should be for everyone who is touched by a death. I always create a space in the ceremony for people to pray if they wish and I understand that sometimes people like to sing a hymn just because it’s got a good tune and it brings back memories.

“Douglas was brilliant from the start, nothing was too much trouble a very lovely bloke, would definitely recommend Douglas”

I am very interested in developing new ways to commemorate and celebrate life and I specialise in helping people who have opted for an unattended or “direct” cremation to create ceremonies for their loved ones. Click here to find out more.

I usually charge £230 to conduct a funeral or memorial, which can be paid direct or via a funeral director. I am happy to go anywhere in the UK and even abroad but for ceremonies which take place beyond about thirty miles of my Newark base or that require an exceptional amount of preparation I may ask for additional expenses, but these will always be agreed in advance.
