Italian Weddings
“Doug is a fantastic celebrant. He put a lot of thought and effort into composing this, our ceremony and we could not be any happier with it.”
Until I relocated to the UK in 2018 I lived in Puglia in the South of Italy for fifteen years and because of my knowledge of Italian language and culture I am able to offer a unique service to straight or gay couples that want an Italian wedding, partnership or renewal of vows ceremony led by a trained and experienced English-speaking humanist celebrant.
I have experience of conducting both legally-binding Italian civil ceremonies and solely “symbolic” weddings and can advise couples on the advantages and disadvantages of “doing the legals” in Italy or their home country.
I charge a standard fee of £1,000 for weddings in mainland Italy and £1,200 for Sicily, Sardinia and the Tuscan archipelago. The process is also the same as for a wedding in the UK and we can even meet in person in England to discuss and plan the ceremony, if you live in London or are able to travel to the East Midlands. As part of the planning process I am happy to advise on venues, travel and accommodation.
I am happy to work with Italian wedding planners and also with couples who decide to “freestyle” and book their own accommodation and wedding venue. An Italian wedding doesn’t have to cost the earth if you have a sense of adventure and don’t mind “mixing it” with the locals.

“The ceremony was perfect. We even had guests that came up to us afterwards to say how refreshing it was from all the insincere religious guff that prevails at these events, so well done Doug!”
