Off to the Lords!
There’s long since been a campaign to get humanist weddings recognised in law. For many years it’s seemed that this just wasn’t going to happen. One possible step forward is a meeting at the House of Lords next week organised by the British Humanist Association about how to get a campaign off the ground to make our weddings legally binding.
I’m very pleased – and excited – to be one of the celebrants attending. We’ll be making the case for all those couples that just want a personal, sincere and non-religious ceremony to mark their commitment… without the hassle of also having to go to the register office. But what on earth does one wear on such occasions??!
