We had naming ceremonies for both our babies and they were just perfect; so personal, joyous and uplifting. A superb way to welcome our children into the world. This is what led me to want to become a celebrant myself.

What is a humanist naming ceremony like?

I’ll work with you to create a bespoke ceremony, which you can make as traditional, informal, fun or creative as you like.

No two namings are the same. I’ll put together a ceremony that reflects your family, your hopes and intentions. There are no ‘set words’ or ‘order of service’ and I can always help by making suggestions about things like venues, readings, music and symbolic acts. My ceremonies are often inspired by the natural world.

A naming gives you a great opportunity to gather together your friends and family from all different backgrounds. No matter what your family circumstances, everyone is welcome at a Humanist Ceremony.

Adoption Ceremonies and other Welcoming Ceremonies

Whilst you might think the ceremonies are only for babies, it is also perfectly possible to have a ceremony for older children, perhaps where two families have recently come together through a new relationship, when you would like officially to welcome a child who has been adopted into your family, or simply because you never got round to it when they were tiny!
