Woodland scattering ground

My husband and I are lucky enough to be the custodians of an ancient woodland.

As we own the wood, we are in a position to allow the scattering of ashes within it.  This means that we can hold post-cremation ceremonies in the wood that can incorporate the scattering of your loved ones ashes.

Our wood is a wild one, we are not able to offer plots for the interment of ashes.  Neither are we able to plant trees; we are actually thinning out the wood as a lot of pine was planted by our predecessors and the trees have become too densely packed together.

However, it is inhabited by a wealth of wildlife, including pheasant, muntjac, and even roe, deer.  In May, large parts of it are carpeted in bluebells.  So, if your loved one was a wildlife lover, our wood might be the perfect place.

I should point out, though, that because of its intensely natural state, we don’t allow folk to simply roam at will!  If you should wish to take a walk through the wood in the days, weeks and months after the ceremony, you would need to arrange it with us beforehand.  We wouldn’t require much notice, just to know to expect you!  Otherwise, expect to be challenged by the gamekeeper and he doesn’t hold back!

My fee for arranging your ceremony with you and holding it in our wood would be £350.

The wood is not exactly accessible for wheelchairs but we could arrange for a car to drive into it.  There is no shelter and no seating.  You are welcome to bring chairs and brollies!  Loos are alfresco…
